“Samantha, my face feels so hot. My skin is really red and tight. I’m not sure what I can do and can’t do to make it better. I was hoping you’d have a few minutes to take a look and give me some advice.” - Ingrid, Sava Client
As a skin care specialist, I would like to believe that most of us are not strangers to spas and skincare services. Whether our parents instilled in us the importance of caring for our skin at a young age or whether we learned the hard way that not caring for our skin may have irreversible consequences, we all come to learn about the importance of taking care of our bodies largest organ, our skin. What we do with that knowledge is of course up to us.

For those going through cancer, skincare services can start as scheduled monthly visits with a favorite esthetician and grow to include emergency visits to help understand and treat a sudden reaction from treatment or cancer itself. Just to clarify, it is always the case that your medical team should know about any change in your skin no matter how small. It’s of course better to be safe than sorry.
The reality is once your medical team has made a diagnosis of what is happening, an esthetician can work within the scope of his/her licensing and customize a treatment plan to address the needs of the skin moving forward both in the treatment room and at home. Taking care of your skin during cancer is an ongoing commitment but it doesn’t have to be complicated. Regular visits to an oncology certified esthetician combined with a simple but comprehensive line of proven products for compromised skin is a winning combination.
The greatest satisfaction I get as an oncology certified esthetician is helping people navigate through the fear and frustration of cancer-related skincare issues. Some are chronic and some are acute but none are insurmountable. There is always something that can be done to improve the situation. It’s about timing and it’s about being there.
At Sava Face & Body, you aren’t alone. If you are living with cancer or know someone who is, please reach out to an oncology certified esthetician in your area for skincare services that are both safe and effective.
At Sava Face & Body we offer a complimentary skin care consultation to answer questions about what products and skincare treatments are right for you.
